Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on 01/03/2026.

At The Planet Watch Foundation, we believe that environmental justice and digital inclusion go hand in hand. Our campaigns, research, and resources are meant for everyone — activists, affected communities, students, journalists, and policymakers alike. That means our website must be accessible to people of all abilities, across all devices and connection speeds.

Accessibility is not just a technical checkbox. A website that doesn't load well on a low-end phone with a weak signal excludes the very communities we work to protect. We treat accessibility as a matter of equity.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have designed this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, produced by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We aim for Level AA compliance wherever technically feasible. This includes ensuring that our content is:

  • Perceivable — text alternatives for non-text content, captions for video, and sufficient colour contrast throughout.

  • Operable — full keyboard navigation, no time-limited interactions, and no content that may trigger seizures or physical reactions.

  • Understandable — plain language, consistent navigation, and clear error messages in forms.

  • Robust — compatibility with current and future assistive technologies, including screen readers.

What We Have Done

We use semantic HTML to help screen readers and other assistive technologies understand our content structure. Images include descriptive alt text. Our site is fully responsive and functions on mobile devices with slow data connections. We avoid relying on colour alone to convey information, and we maintain readable font sizes and contrast ratios throughout.

Declaration of partial compliance with the standard due to third-party content

Some older archived documents and third-party embedded content (such as maps and external reports) may not yet meet full accessibility standards. We are working to address these progressively. Where a document is not accessible, we are happy to provide the content in an alternative format on request.

Feedback and Contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter any barriers, or if you need content in an alternative format, please contact us at: planetwatch.ngo@gmail.com

We will do our best to respond within 5 working days.
